M H Libman, Woodturner
I am a full-time woodturner with a studio in Asheville NC.
I turn bowls, platters, hollow forms and other turned objects. I am passionate about my craft and the American Craft movement. I want my work to be attractive as well as useful. All of my wood is “reclaimed urban harvest” removed for lot clearing or storm clean up. I produce all my work on the lathe without any embellishments after the fact, creating a very traditional feel. I teach at John C. Campbell Folk School, as well as in my studio. I have also been a featured demonstrator at the Southern States Turning Symposium as well as a number of woodturning clubs throughout the southeast. I am a member of the American Association of Woodturners, Carolina Mountain Turners. I have participated in numerous Craft Shows such as, the John C. Campbell Fall Festival. I have attended National and regional Symposia and have dedicated my career to the art of woodturning. I began turning in High School and continued woodworking as a hobby until 2002 when I made it a full time career. I am interested in furthering the education and skills of other Woodturners as well as my own. |
